Enrolling in a defensive driving class after receiving a ticket.?
I recently received a ticket for going 85 in a 65, it was my first ticket. I plead guilty and am just going to pay off the ticket. Now i want to take a defensive driving class to reduce my points and insurance, thing is, i got my ticket in New York (where i am licensed and registered), but currently live in Boston. so can i take a class in Massachusetts and have to count towards my license and insurance even though they are NY, or do i have to take the class in NYS…
Usually you have to take the class in the state where you got the violation. The ticket should have info on how it all works in that state. In my state, you can't take the course if you were doing 20 over, so look into that as well. Some states have on-line classes you can take, so maybe NY has that option.
Good luck and slow down!!!!
The best thing to do is call the courts where your ticket came from and ask them since they are the source for all the laws and regulations in that area. Also see if they will allow you to take a traffic school class. if so that would help you to avoid your insurance going up and a point on your license. I just took a court approved On Line traffic school class with TicketRelief.com. Very fast and cheap. Just make sure the courts give you the green light to take the class and that its court approved.
